Following the community plant sale (10-2pm), join Herbalist Lynn Roberts of Acuity Wellness for a free guided herb walk at the PHS Community Farm in Norristown Farm Park. The PHS Community Farm is a three-acre teaching and production farm that grows organic produce using sustainable methods to support local food pantries, community partners, nutrition education, “Food as Medicine” initiatives, and opportunities for public engagement with the local food system.
During this relaxed, educational walk, you’ll explore the medicinal plants growing in the farm’s herb beds and surrounding landscape– many of which can thrive in home gardens across our region. You’ll learn how to identify local herbs, hear about their traditional and contemporary uses, and discuss simple ways herbs are prepared as teas, infusions, and other home remedies.
No prior experience is necessary– just curiosity and a willingness to slow down, observe, and connect with plants and people. Don’t miss this chance to learn from your local herbalist. Come early for the community plant sale, stay for the walk, and leave inspired to grow your own herbs while deepening your connection to the land and the community that cares for it.
While the walk is free to attend, donations are greatly appreciated and will support the HWB chapter in its sustainable food and health initiatives.
